It’s quite sad that people who know very little about a subject think they have the right to comment on things. What is even sadder is when the image they portray shows these people as greedy and selfish.
Well let me tell you Katie Hopkins making a living from sharing lies and stoking hatred is greedy and it is selfish. “Do we really need to pander to the trans community and their whims? I say no.”. Simply offensive, thoughtless and inaccurate.
The Pope is also sharing ‘Gods’ thoughts on gender as “in schools they are teaching this to children — to children! — that everyone can choose their gender… we are living a moment of annihilation of man as image of God.”
Never choose a book by it’s cover. Can you tell a good person from a bad one just by looking at them? No? Just because most people are lucky enough to not to have gender dysphoria, does not mean it does not exist – it always did. Maybe it’s just a whim?
The facts are over 41% of trans people attempt suicide. Maybe if these two people had compassion for people, rather than their outdated beliefs based on emotions and fear we would have a better world.
Yes, trans people can get their eggs or sperm frozen – but they have to pay for it themselves. Their life choices often close the door to other choices, one of them might be having children, another might be losing family or friends. I am not sure I would call this a “lifestyle”. Sometimes a choice between life and death.
Being trans is not a lifestyle choice. It’s not like making the choice to have three children because infertility does not affect you, or entering a TV reality show to simply further your own gains. They are lifestyle choices.
A life-style of preaching to people about how wrong someone else’s choices are.
For someone who has needed the medical profession herself, the NHS, for Katie’s epilepsy. Surely living with the side effect of epilepsy is a lifestyle choice? No? How much does that cost?
A man who interprets the teaching from a book over 2,000 years old, before modern science existed. Where is the understanding and intelligence that contemporary thinking backed with research and science says he is wrong?
Living with the side effect of gender dysphoria is also not a choice. Living with the consequences of the choices needed to bring about a normal life in a trans person is very hard.
It does not just affect you, it affects everyone around you – for the rest of your life – and that sometimes means never being able to bring new life into this world because at the time of medical intervention the funds or the desire at simply not available.
It sometimes means that families are torn apart because of beliefs that cannot see the unhappiness life in their birth gender brings someone, or the self-loathing that forces someone to make the ultimate sacrifice because they cannot be the person they are. Either way someone loses.
I am pleased Katie and Frances have the confidence they have. They both have power over people – I just wish they would use it wisely. To support and nurture people, rather than victimise and segregate people.
